The mobile phone app will inform women when they begin ovulating and predict the optimum period for conception. Baby Cloud - the name of the invention - involves a special sensor worn by the woman on her body.

It precisely measures her body temperature and other crucial indicators, said Sergei Sedykh, project director of Novosibirsk-based Medico-Biological Union.

Data is then flashed to the woman's mobile via Bluetooth, according to RIA Novosti.

The device is seen as especially useful for women who have trouble conceiving, though potentially it gives more control and knowledge to any woman. The system could also 'serve as a communication medium between the woman and her gynaecologist', it is claimed.

The cost of the device on the market is predicted as around 4,000 to 5,000 roubles - $130 to $160.

Scientists are now working on making the shape of sensor as comfortable as possible for women to wear.

Medical Biological Union - known as MBU and based in Novosibirsk Technopark - was founded in 1992 as one of the first private biotechnology companies in Russia. Pictured: Novosibirsk Technopark, The Siberian Times

Local Siberian clinics will be supplied with the app once testing is complete, said Maria Galyamova, spokeswoman for the company. Other variants of the system are also being considered, she explained.

'In future, this technology could be developed further to measure blood pressure and blood sugar,' she said.

Medical Biological Union - known as MBU and based in Novosibirsk Technopark - was founded in 1992 as one of the first private biotechnology companies in Russia.

The company 'is focused on the development and realisation of science-intensive projects resulting in commercialisation of novel products and technologies in the area of pharmaceutics, diagnostics, surgery, and personalised medicine'.

As with the Baby Cloud innovation, they say their products enhance the 'quality of human life' and 'availability of medical care'.
